What kind of wetsuit will I need on my trip to Huntington Beach?
Posted on under Wetsuits Information | 8 CommentsI am planning a trip to Huntington Beach soon to go bodyboarding. The water is likely to be between 66-70 degrees. What will I need to wear? Just a wetsuit top? A wetsuit top with neoprene undershorts? Springsuit? Full wetsuit? If I wear a wetsuit will I also need a rashguard? I would just like some help on what gear I should be wearing in that type of atmosphere. Thanks.

Here is the deal. If the water is 66 degrees and you plan on dawn patroling use a 3/2 full. If it is 68 degrees you still can use the 3/2 in the early morning. However, during the day you could use a spring suit. Water warmer than 68 is sweet. Use a springer in the AM and either a rashguard or a shirt (2 mm full sleave) during the day when it is warm. As far as a rash guard goes they are nice to have but not necessary if your cash is tight. Rash gaurds come in different thicknesses, short sleave, long sleave, etc. Hope this helps.

you could use a spring suit or wetsuit jacket. But a full suit wouldn’t be bad either.

if your a wuss, wear a fullsuit, preferably neon colors, to attract marine life, if not shorts and sunblock will do.

I’m in Southern California and I have been fine surfing in board shorts lately. A spring suit (shorty) would probably be a little more comfortable at the moment, but plenty of guys are out just in shorts daily here.
Hope it helps.

welll, I live in san diego
and it all depends on the type of person you are
for me I wear a spring suit and its perfect I love it
but there are some ppl that feel the need to be super warm and wear a full wetsuit, but the problem is when you get out its super hot and uncomfortable
and there are also pplll just trunkin it
which might be a little chilly at first but you get over it
for me id choose the spring suit
then just buy a rashguard for underneith so you don’t get wetsuit rash
sooo good luck!
hope I helped

A 3/2 shorty, but some people go boardshorts. Im from Northern california and I wear a 5/4/3 with a hood and you might wanna grow a beard too! I hear guys talking about sharks down there! They have no idea. Nothing like Northern California Bay Area!
